On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the City Council accepted the annual award of Chapter 90 funds from the State to the City of Springfield in the amount of $5,019,060.65 for Fiscal Year 2027.

The use of the $5 million within the DPW is attached. Also attached is a list of the streets proposed for paving under our Fiscal Year 2027 paving contract that will start in June +/-. The total amount of the contract is proposed to be $6.5 million.

Attention Residents

The City of Springfield will restart our Fiscal Year 2026 paving program beginning March 30, 2026, weather permitting.

The list below shows the tentative scheduling moving through the spring / early summer

With regards to our Fiscal Year 2027 Paving Program, we have recently received notification from MassDOT and the Governor's Office that the City of Springfield will be receiving our annual Chapter 90 allotment in the amount of $5.019 million. With these funds and additional funds awarded from the State, the total target for the FY27 paving program is $6.5 million. Now that the funds are set we will be finalizing our paving list in the next few weeks. The acceptance of the funds from the State and approval of our paving list will be in front of the City Council in April 2026.

Our bid will be prepared and we would anticipate a start of work for the FY2027 program in early / mid-June 2026.
