First time dehydrating heart, lungs, and liver from our goats. Suzy is one lucky dog!

Double Helix Linear Appraisal 2024 was a proud day and a great learning experience. I really appreciated the appraiser's thoroughness and explanations throughout.

But on to the proud parts for my three first fresheners:

This appraisal was very special to me. I started a performance herd as a total rookie in 2016, kept it very small, but moved up over the years to a respectable little herd.

Due to life changes and health reasons, this is my last year. I'm not planning to disperse the herd, but if there is a great fit for these girls in a performance home, I'd let these girls continue to shine, as their best years are ahead. Then again, I love looking at them; they make me proud. 😊

My herd's first 90! Double Helix C Dellaware, aka Della, has done me proud many times, but this was the icing on top! Under the appraiser’s keen eye, the highlights of her 3F LA as follows:

This LA score was so meaningful to me, because I do not plan to breed anymore. Life and health changes tell me it's time, even though I didn't start a performance herd until 2016. I'm proud that I kept it super small, but crept my little herd up the ladder, and now I am satisfied. --Well, mostly! I mean, it's kind of a shame to stop now, but it is time.

Three Double Helix FFs were also appraised. They made me proud too. I'll post them next, but I wanted Della to have a post all her own.

I am loving the long level toplines and angularity of this year’s kids! Twin does, yay! from Double Helix D Dash, and twin does from Double Helix D Baby Doll. Super fast, easy kiddings too!

These dam paternal sisters have placed high in the ring, including Baby Doll's first, second, and fifth of 23 at the extremely competitive NWODGA this year. She was awarded Reserve Champion twice as dry yearling. Dash placed first, second, fifth and fifth at NWODGA of 10 milking yearlings. I am so excited for LA, but must wait until October to share scores.

The sire of the doelings, SG Crash Cymbal, is sired by Hetland Creek PD Steel Guitar, sire to VVEE 90 Little Red House Hey! Look! Navi! Crash has brought a little more refinement, length, and levelness, as hoped, I'm also pleased with RA and width between hocks --especially Baby Doll's twins.

Crash's dam's sire, ELITE 95th percentile Wild in Wild D Delmore, brought the width and strength and big improvement in production from his dam, Wild in Wild K Loretta, 92nd production rank and E in udder.
BTW, Crash has a moon spot. I have neglected to get a picture of him, but can do. He is dairy, with a smooth walk like his dam.

Due to health issues and life change, I am cutting my small herd back to just a few favorites. I am lousy at promoting my herd, so Double Helix might not ring a bell. I have bred my herd up from nothing to being very competitive in the ring with well-known herds. Milk production and LA scores have increased dramatically as well. My priority is finding homes these girls will be well cared for.

These two girls deserve to be bragged up! I am finally sharing how they placed at NWODGA. (This is likely the only show we will make it to this year, unfortunately.)

Double Helix D Baby Doll placed 1st, 2nd, 5th, and ? of 23 as a FF 2 yr old

Double Helix D Dash placed 5th, 2nd, 5th, and 1st of ten FF one year olds.

As I am sure you know, the competition at NWODGA is always intense. I was very proud.

Their first milk test as first fresheners is promising:

Dash 3.5.

TO BOOT: Both of them produced twin does with super easy births on sunny afternoons. I will be placing ads for the does- after our vacation in July, as we are cutting way back due to life change.
