Last night, Attorney O’Malley received the Thomas A. Kenefick, III Memorial Award for Leadership and Professionalism.
Pursuant to the Hampden County Bar Association Code of Professionalism, “As lawyers, we owe duties of professionalism to our clients, opposing parties and their counsel, the courts and other tribunals, and the public as a whole. Those duties require professional integrity, personal dignity, candor, diligence, respect, courtesy, cooperation, and competence.” Katie O’Malley embodies all of the above as she is respectful to anyone involved in a case, whether represented or unrepresented. Respect is automatic from Katie.
Katie is the first person to provide new lawyers with her information in case they have any questions about how things are done in Hampden County. She is someone that the judges know they can ask for help when it comes to continuing education and coordinating events that will help bring people together. Many practitioners seek out Katie to ask her opinion on cases and personal matters as she is someone with experience, but, more importantly, someone who is easy to talk to and has the best interests of her colleagues in mind at all times.
As the chair of the Probate and Family Court Bench Bar for the last 5+ years, she has served as a respected liaison between the judiciary and the attorneys. She has organized events and been an active member of the HCBA for almost two decades. She is also on the Mass Bar Family Law Section and is a tireless advocate for Western Mass, getting the same respect and love as the Eastern part of the state. She also chairs the Western Mass Family Law MBA event each year and coordinates panels, volunteers, and deals with all of the administrative headaches that people do not know about. Simply put, she is a go-to person in Hampden County for all things Probate and Family Law. She does the above with a smile on her face and finds a way to make everyone feel like they belong.
Katie is not only a star in the Family and Probate world but is the glue that holds our office together. She is the first one to make sure the staff has an Admin Professional week (not day) to remember; cheers on all of our personal and professional endeavors, and makes sure everyone in the office is well fed. Simply put, she is the heart of our office and never asks for nor looks for any recognition.
