Watering is the first thing that comes to mind when talking about houseplants and moisture, but HUMIDITY is equally important! A warm winter home can approach desertlike levels of humidity so your plants will feel particularly parched, especially if they’re tropical or subtropical. Ferns, philodendrons, monsteras & calatheas to name a few. You can slow down on watering as they aren’t growing this time of year but amp up the humidity. To give them some extra love this winter consider some of the following tips :
•misting them with room temperature water early in the day *do not mist flowers/buds or plants with velvety leaves
•buying a humidifier or two
•place plants in a well lit bathroom to receive humidity from your daily shower
•create a humidity tray. fill a tray with pebbles, fill with water and place plant on top (see picture). Top off water daily.
