Change for the Better Story
In the Spring of 2019 I was at an art auction for a local charity; Fifth Street Renaissance / SARA Center. The organization just needed a little more money to meet their fundraising event goal. So I bought a Meek! (print). I love it, but what should I do with it? Displaying it at home seemed like a waste of the artist’s intention.
I posted this question to my friends on Facebook. We agreed that this art was intended to incite action and meaningful engagement. How do we do that? Moreover, could we also use it as a means for raising awareness and funding for Fifth Street? Sure!
So we decide to start the Change for the Better Initiative. For a nominal donation, you can have this work of art delivered to the person of your choice. This art item will be hand-delivered to that person complete with some educational material about the homelessness issue & the need for systemic change, and prompting questions for the new possessor. The purpose is encourage engagement in the workplace, school, or home and display the art for at least one day.
