This precious family came into my life about a year ago when I started a garden party and Tandra started coming bringing plant knowledge from her grandma.We had actually gone to the same church for a few years but just hadn’t connected. Now we have garden party, church, and our kids even go to co-op together and it makes me so happy to have her in my friend group! She’s such a sweetheart that I feel very blessed to call my friend. Also her family is adorable, Nick is one of SPD’s finest, and Gideon is one of Kovis faves. ❤️

Art in it’s most loving form

Hi there!

My name is Larissa Compton, and my hubby’s name is Blake. You most likely will only see me if you book L.Louise Photo, but if you’re lucky, Blake will grace your presence and bring all of his dad jokes and hilariousness to make you belly laugh for those beautiful smiles and raw candid moments. This is a little bit of my story, and why I love being a photographer.

First, you should know that I didn’t start taking pictures with the intention of creating a business out of it. I honestly just loved the way the camera translated those everyday moments into still memories that we are so fortunate to hang on our walls, or post on our Instagram accounts.

I used to dream about modeling and therefore would bribe my friends to take pictures of me in obscure places like random drainage ditches or properties that we could have definitely gotten arrested on. One friend in particular saw my vision and walked with me into this journey of photography basically holding my hand a long the way. She is one of the most incredible people I have ever met, and still encourages me in every aspect of life. I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for her, like literally, she gave me my first Canon. After messing around in life for a few years, taking pictures at home, and taking pictures of friends or at the skate park, I landed my first officially paid gig. A wedding. Now, this was my brother-in-law’s wedding, so I had a little bit of cushion to work with, but after taking about 5,000 images and running myself completely ragged, I decided to get learnt. By that, I mean that I started taking myself more seriously. From that point on, even after making a few mistakes, I WAS HOOKED.

The thing is, there is really nothing like the fly-on-the-wall moments you get to witness as a photographer. Capturing moments like a father/daughter first look, the groom’s face as his bride is walking towards him, moments like a mother snuggling her baby, or a father tickling his kiddos, like grandma and grandpa 60 years into marriage and still loving life. These are not just pictures, these are symbols of love, and life at the fullest. I get to click a little button on an incredible invention that literally captures art in it’s most loving form. And that is why I do it.

Art in every form runs through my veins, whether it’s music, painting, drawing, sculpting, sketching, designing, writing, photography, etc.

Art is my life, my passion.

I hope that as you view my images and think about what I am creating, you get a glimpse into the perspective that God has given me, and I hope most of all that you fall in love with it.
