Let’s celebrate the incredible organizers of the Coalition to Stop CO2 Pipelines! 🙌

Private companies are pushing hazardous, highly pressurized CO2 pipelines through Illinois, often threatening to use eminent domain to seize family farmland. Local communities are fighting back because of the significant safety and rupture risks these pipelines pose.

The Coalition has already proven they can stand up to these massive corporate developers and win. Now, they’ve built a powerful, bipartisan effort in Springfield to strip these pipeline companies of their eminent domain powers for good.

Tiny plastic pellets, or nurdles, are wreaking havoc on our rivers, streams, and the Great Lakes. Plastic pellets are only 3-5mm in diameter, and they easily wash into our waterways through industrial spills, stormwater runoff, and transportation. They also aren’t biodegradable, meaning they’ll break up into microscopic fragments that can harm aquatic wildlife and threaten public health for hundreds of years. 🌊

The Plastic Pellet Free Waters Act, or HB4418, will require the Illinois EPA to create and implement rules for a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan to help keep plastic pellets out of our waterways and make plastic-makers responsible for their misuse of these dangerous materials.
