The Magnum Research BFR (Big Frame Revolver) is a premium, hand-built single-action revolver designed by gunsmith Jim Tertin in 1999. Known for its immense power and precision, it is widely used by handgun hunters and available in both short-cylinder standard handgun rounds and extended-cylinder rifle cartridges. The BFR was originally based on a concept developed in the 1990s by D-Max. The acronym originally stood for "Brainerd’s First Revolver", as it was first conceptualized and produced in Brainerd, Minnesota. The first three models offered were chambered for the .45 C**t/.410 shotshell, .454 Casull, and notably, the massive .45-70 Government rifle cartridge.BFRs have also been the base for custom conversions to extreme big-game calibers, including the .500 Bushwhacker, widely considered one of the most powerful handgun cartridges in the world.

Introduced in 1873, the .45-70 Government cartridge (named for its \(.45\)-inch diameter and original \(70\)-grain black powder charge) was the U.S. military's primary service round. Revered for its versatility and stopping power. Today, the cartridge is popular in lever-actions (like the Marlin 1895 and Henry) and single-shot rifles (like the R***r No. 1). Its heavy, straight-walled profile makes it a favorite for hunting deer, elk, and large African plains game, while remaining legal for deer hunting in many straight-wall-restricted states.

Walter Hunt invented the first lever-operated repeater in 1848.Inventors Horace Smith and Daniel B. Wesson (who later formed Smith & Wesson) purchased Hunt's patent and created the Volcanic. Among their investors was shirt-manufacturer Oliver Wi******er.While bolt-action rifles largely replaced lever-actions on military battlefields, lever guns remain an American icon. Today, manufacturers like Henry Repeating Arms and Marlin Fi****ms continue to produce lever-actions for sport shooting, hunting, and historical appreciation.

The .45 ACP (Automatic C**t Pistol) cartridge was developed by John Moses Browning in the early 1900s after U.S. military experience in the Philippine–American War showed that smaller‑caliber handgun rounds lacked reliable stopping power. Introduced in 1905 and officially adopted in 1911 alongside the C**t M1911 pistol, the .45 ACP became the standard U.S. military sidearm cartridge for most of the 20th century, serving through both World Wars, Korea, and Vietnam.Even after the U.S. military transitioned to the 9×19mm NATO round in 1985, the .45 ACP remained widely used in law enforcement units, competitive shooting, and civilian defensive fi****ms. Today it continues to be produced in numerous loadings, including modern jacketed hollow points, +P pressure variants, and match‑grade ammunition, and it remains closely associated with the enduring 1911 platform while also appearing in many contemporary pistols and pistol‑caliber carbines.

The 7.62x39mm, originally designated as the M43, is a Soviet-designed intermediate rifle cartridge created during World War II. Heavily influenced by German early assault rifle trials, the Soviets developed it to replace heavier, full-power rounds for closer-range, fast-paced urban combat.
The round typically fires a \(0.311\)-inch diameter bullet. It is prized for its reliability in harsh conditions and excellent cover-penetration.
The cartridge was finalized with a 39mm case length and a 123-grain boat-tail bullet. It was immediately paired with Mikhail Kalashnikov's prototype AK-47.Becoming the standard-issue Warsaw Pact caliber, it was chambered in the AK-47, AKM, and the SKS. It remains one of the most widely used military cartridges in history.
