Hatching season is officially over for the season!!
Eggs will still be available (locally) for those that want to hatch, but we’re done until September here at Rebel’s Flying Feathers & The Chicken Addiction Poultry Shop.
We still have chicks available for the next month. The shop will be closed for the month of August as we enjoy a little R&R in Alaska.
We’ll fire up the incubators again in September and begin the next hatching season in October. So if you didn’t get chicks this spring; hopefully we’ll have what you’re looking for this fall.

I just set the last of the chicken eggs for the season. I decided to keep the incubators going an extra month to hatch out those rare breeds that started laying late in the season.
I do apologize for not having Isabel Cuckoo Orpington or Swedish Flower Hen available this year. I got less than 10 of the Orpington myself. The original flock I believe is much older than what I was originally told. Hopefully I can build this flock over the next couple years.
The Swedish were very late to the laying party. I need to go back through records and see if they’re more of a fall/winter producer.
Since I’ve set the last of the eggs (I’ll start up again in September) I’ll have hatching eggs available for those that want a chance at hatching those rare breeds. I will not be marking eggs though. This will be a daily hens choice option - this means that whatever breed lays eggs on that day- that’s what will be available. I decided to leave many breeds in their breeding pens. There’s just more harmony when there aren’t so many hens and cockbirds running around together.
The breeds I have in pens are:
Bielefelder (I’ve swapped out to a new cockbird last week)
Mottled Houdan
Salmon Faverolles
Crele Penedesenca
Chocolate Orpington
Spangled Russian Orloff
Isabel Cuckoo Orpington- if they ever lay
Swedish Flower Hen
Tolbunt Polish
I will also have both the Narragansett & Royal Palm Turkey eggs available. If you wish these to be part of your surprise dozen, just let me know.
I will not be checking fertility for the next few months, so the prices per dozen will reflect this. Most of these breeds would sell for $100/dz, but I’ll be running a summer special of $60/dz- again this is a mix of eggs/ whatever had been laid that day from those pens. These will not be marked as they will go in the fridge as eating eggs if not purchased.
Here is today’s haul- and no, the colored egg layers are not available as they are in a hen only pen right now- poor girls were getting ravaged by so many cockbirds 😩 (they’re a bit more behaved as a bachelor flock anyway).
