I can’t believe my own grooming salon is actually happening!
This has been such an incredible journey for me and I’m so excited to share the “Why” with you all.
My passion for grooming started actually back in the 7th grade. I had to go do a “job shadow” at a local business for a class assignment. I had NO idea what I wanted to do, and of course, I waited until the last minute to decide anything.
Our family dog, a miniature poodle named Shasta, was going in to the groomers that same day to get his regular grooming done. I loved picking him up with my grandma, because he KNEW he looked good and would have the biggest cheesy dog grin on his face and would prance around the house/yard, anywhere, with a little more spring in his step. I always thought he looked so fancy and would often spend HOURS on our computer researching poodle haircuts!
This kind groomer was very sweet when she was approached to help me with my assignment. She showed me how to bathe him, clean his ears, clip his nails, and fluff dry my dog. She gave him his haircut and I was awestruck.
Fast forward to my junior year in high school, my grandma had purchased a clipper set for our dog so we could try to learn ourselves how to do it. I hadn’t given much thought to grooming since then, aside from brushing my dog and choosing how I wanted his hair cut throughout the years. I figured, eh, I’d take a crack at it! That’s where it truly turned from an idea to a passion.
After graduating high school, I enrolled in Animal Behavior College and completed their Dog Grooming certification program. I interned at a local grooming shop and did 100 hrs of assisting/grooming. (If I groomed your dogs at all during my ABC days, I thank you from the bottom of my heart!) Then, after completing my certifications, I got a job at Petco in Orem to start my official grooming career!
Here I am now, 4 years later from my start date at Petco. I have worked as a mobile groomer, and in a private salon, and I am so excited to bring my own ideas to the grooming table! I wanted to make my grooming experiences as personal as I could while maintaining a professional, calm atmosphere and providing the best care and products possible for your dog. If you are anything like me, your dogs are part of your family and you want them treated with the utmost importance and care! I strive to do the best job possible and would love to get to know your beloved pups.
My poodle Shasta passed away last September at 12 years old, and I will never forget him and his role he played in my education, as well as his unwavering companionship and love. I’ll always be a poodle lover because of him. Rest easy, my boy.
Thank you for everyone who has gotten me this far by believing in me, supporting me, and encouraging me to grow.
