Temtor Lofts

101 Years of History!

The Temtor Lofts building has been a central pillar in the Carondelet/Patch neighborhood since it was built in 1920. The building was designed by architect Harry G. Clymer, for his cousin Milton G. Clymer for his growing company, Temtor Fruit & Products Company. The current location of the building was a prize location due to its proximity to the Missouri Pacific Railroad lines and dry docks along Davis, Vulcan, and Water Streets.

The Great Depression hit the Carondelet neighborhood particularly hard and Temtor Fruit & Products Company felt the downturn of the economy as well. In 1928, the company was sold to Preserves and Honey, Inc. in New York. The building was then sold to the Coca-Cola company in 1937.

Coca-Cola operated their only Cola Syrup Plant in Missouri at the location from 1937-1988. The plant served 6 bottlers in the St. Louis area and also bottlers throughout Missouri, Iowa, Kentucky, Tennessee and parts of Illinois. It served as a major player in the manufacturing community in Carondelet until it closed in 1988.

The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008, just a few years before it was renovated into its current state as a mixed-use residential and commercial space. The development converted this old building into 77 residential units with the first floor dedicated to commercial use which Perennial Artisan Ales has anchored since 2011. This renowned brewery has helped bring people from all over the region (and world!) to this historic building.

As we look forward, renovations are underway to add new amenities and to help keep this 101 year old beauty standing for another 100 years!
