Today at the Mirowitz Center, we enjoyed a thoughtful discussion of Yasmina Reza’s play β€œGod of Carnage” with Rabbi Elizabeth Hersh of Temple Emanuel and Artistic Director Rebekah Scallet of New Jewish Theatre

Rabbi Hersh explored the play through the lens of Jewish values, reflecting on self-awareness, personal responsibility, hospitality, and civility in times of conflict. She encouraged us to consider how we balance self-interest with empathy in our relationships. Rebekah Scallet shared behind-the-scenes insights into the production, including the actors, costumes, and stage design.

The program gave us new perspectives that will enrich our enjoyment of the play and its themes. We look forward to seeing β€œGod of Carnage” when it opens at NJT on June 11!
