It’s hard for me to talk about what I feel inside, and I’m coming to realize it’s just as hard for me to create work on my mental health, or based around my traumas. It’s even harder to do this in a self portrait form, especially as a perfectionist. I would like to keep this somewhat open to interpretation and for you to relate it to your own reality as you feel when viewing these. But, I’d also like to share a little bit of what inspired this work. I personally deal with body dysmorphia every day. I’m not sure when it happened, but it did and no matter how hard I worked to be healthy or go to the gym, It simply never felt rewarding in the physical sense. I also have always had an overwhelming fear of having children my whole life. Not because I don’t think I’d be a good mother, but I’m scared of what it would do to me physically, mentally, and how different my life would be. Mentally I am still very selfish with what I want for myself in this life and what I want to see, how I want to live.
