Meet Alaina, a junior in high school and a Youth Apprentice at SSM Health. 👋

Alaina spends 12–15 hours each week gaining hands-on experience in a pediatric clinic while still in high school.

From rooming patients and preparing exam rooms to restocking supplies and supporting patients and staff, she’s getting an inside look at what a career in healthcare is really like.

Best of all, the experience has helped confirm her goal of becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner. 👏

The SSM Health Youth Apprentice Program combines related classroom instruction with paid, hands-on work experience, helping students connect what they’re learning in school to real-world healthcare careers.
