Authenticity isn’t always a destination. Sometimes it’s a lifelong practice.

Pride Month is a reminder of the courage it can take to be ourselves, and the freedom that can come when we stop hiding parts of who we are.

Wishing you a month of self-acceptance, connection, and wholehearted health.

“Healing” has become a common term, and it can mean different things to different people. For some, it’s recovering from an illness or injury. For others, it’s personal growth, emotional development, or becoming aware of patterns that operate beneath the surface of daily life.

Whatever language we use, the process of developing ourselves and creating meaningful change is rarely linear.

Many imagine healing as a steady climb upward with each step bringing more health, more clarity, and more ease. In reality, it often unfolds more like a winding path. Sometimes we make significant progress in one area of life, only to find ourselves struggling in another.

For me, physical health came first. I learned how to exercise, eat well, and take care of my body. Over time I became healthier and stronger than I had ever been. Then my attention shifted toward the mind and emotions.

As I began exploring old patterns, stress responses, beliefs, and ways of relating to myself and others, something unexpected happened. Some of the physical habits that had once come easily became harder to maintain. It felt like I was moving backward.
Looking back, I don’t think I was failing. I think I was redirecting energy toward a different layer of healing.

Growth isn’t always additive. Sometimes we focus on one area while another temporarily receives less attention. Sometimes old patterns resurface before they resolve. Sometimes we need to dismantle an old way of being before a new one can take shape.

Healing isn’t measured by how perfectly we move forward. It’s measured by our willingness to keep showing up, learning, and responding to what life is asking of us in the moment.

As someone who continues to navigate this path myself, I know firsthand that growth is rarely simple or predictable. The challenges, setbacks, and lessons I’ve encountered have deepened my understanding of what it means to create meaningful change.

It’s one of the reasons I’m passionate about supporting others. Not because I have all the answers, but because I’ve experienced how valuable it can be to have guidance, perspective, and support along the way.

The connection between the body and mind is fascinating.
Our experiences can shape patterns in how we think, feel, and respond. Awareness of those patterns can be a powerful step toward balance and healing. Kate Bee Moves is a superb yoga instructor and has written a thought-provoking article about trauma, the body, and our experiences. Take a few moments to read. She hosts retreat getaways, YTTs, and weekly Yoga classes at ALIGN massage & yoga studio. Check her out for experiences that support connecting you to yourself.

The Body Is Not an Object: A Somatic Perspective | SomaVia Beyond the fascia debate, a deeper look at soma, embodiment, and why human experience is best understood as a living process.

No two bodies, nervous systems, or weeks are exactly the same. That’s why each session is approached with attention to what’s happening for you in the moment, rather than following the same routine every time.

Some days the body needs deeper therapeutic work. Other days it needs slowing down, grounding, nervous system support, or simply space to exhale. Taking the time to listen and adapt allows the session to better support the whole person, not just a checklist of techniques.

That individualized approach is a big part of how lasting support, relief, and restoration can begin to unfold over time.
