$4k Zara hauls. A new designer bag every month. Fancy outfits that aren’t practical or work IRL.
Where are the real people with normal budgets? The women that work a full time job, have kids and don’t want to lose their sense of joy when it comes to getting dressed.
That’s me.
I’m just a regular person trying to rediscover my style in my 40s. I document my outfit everyday as a way to figure out what feels good. I want to inject more fun, color and confidence into what I wear.
I’m slowly figuring it out. ✨
Comfy can be cute! Just let me show you how.
It’s not too late. If your style doesn’t feel like it’s what you want it to be… make a change. If I can do it, you can too.
These are five shifts I recently made. ✨
1. Dress for yourself.
Forget the rules. Stop dressing for your age, your body, or what you think you should wear. Dress for how you want to feel. Your opinion matters most.
2. Get dressed every day.
Even if you’re staying home. The more outfits you wear, the faster you’ll discover what actually feels like you.
3. Wear the good stuff.
Stop saving your favorite pieces for vacations or special occasions. You are the occasion.
4. Let go of the old version of you.
Not just what doesn’t fit your body, but what doesn’t fit your life or who you are anymore. Your closet should reflect who you’re becoming, not who you were five or fifteen years ago.
5. Chase the spark.
Experiment. Repeat outfits. Mix unexpected pieces. Make mistakes. If an outfit makes you feel incredible and puts a smile on your face that’s what you should be wearing. No rules. Just confidence.
Are the clothes you put on making you feel like your best self?
It’s a choice.
For a long time I reached for whatever was easiest. I’m a mom and work from home. Does it really matter what I wear?
But I slowly realized that it does. I feel more confident, more optimistic and more energetic when I put on a real outfit. Even if the only people that are going to see it are the other parents at the summer camp drop off.
So I decided to make a change. To put a bit of effort and thought into what I wear. It’s made a huge difference in how I feel and show up every day.
If I can do it, you can too. ✨
Is it giving Little House on the Prairie? 🫠
Here’s the shift that changed everything.
I call it the Spark Method. ✨
It’s the mindset that helped me fall back in love with getting dressed. And it has nothing to do with buying more clothes.
1. Dress for yourself.
Forget the rules.Stop dressing for your age, your body, or what you think you should wear. Dress for how you want to feel. Your opinion matters most.
2. Get dressed every day.
Even if you’re staying home. The more outfits you wear, the faster you’ll discover what actually feels like you. And if you genuinely love leggings and T shirts, wear them proudly.
3. Wear the good stuff.
Stop saving your favorite pieces for vacations or special occasions. You are the occasion.
4. Let go of the old version of you.
Not just what doesn’t fit your body, but what doesn’t fit your life anymore. Your closet should reflect who you’re becoming, not who you were five or fifteen years ago.
5. Chase the spark.
Experiment. Repeat outfits. Mix unexpected pieces. Make mistakes. If an outfit makes you smile and feel like the most confident version of yourself, that’s your answer.
Style isn’t about owning more.
It’s about giving yourself permission to become the person you’ve always wanted to be.
