Fun Fact: Lead-based paint was used almost universally throughout the early 20th Century in most houses.
Lead is a heavy metal that causes a host of developmental and other issues if consumed, and was outlawed for use in residential-applications in 1978.
When buying an older home, there are professional inspections and DIY test kits you can buy to test if the sample paint contains lead.
But regardless, eating paint is bad. Don’t eat it.
