A message from our Executive Director:
When I was a kid, my grandfather worked hard to help the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra obtain the resources it needed for its future. It was my first lesson in why the arts matter to a city โ and what it takes to make the case for them.
Twenty years ago, when I first moved to the St. Louis region, almost the very first cultural event I attended was an SLSO performance โ work colleagues sang in the symphony chorus, and I was treated to a spectacular night of music. It's one of the reasons I fell in love with this city.
Years later, my daughter received an award as part of the SLSO Express the Music creative writing program. I'll never forget watching her beaming face on stage at Powell Hall.
Now, in my role at The Sheldon, I get to call the musicians and staff of the SLSO colleagues and neighbors. They are some of the most extraordinary professionals I know, performing at the highest level imaginable, and they help make Grand Center the world-class arts destination it is. I could not be prouder to stand beside them.
Here's to the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra โ thank you from three generations of my family, and for everything you give this city.
