On this date in 1939, National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum outfielder Lou Brock was born.

One of the most prolific base stealers in baseball history, his 938 career stolen bases remains the National League standard. The six-time All-Star and 3,000-hit club member spent parts of 16 seasons in St. Louis and helped lead the Cardinals to World Series championships in 1964 and 1967.
