Congrats to everyone who worked hard to make our 2-7-20 event a great success! Next show announcement coming tomorrow at 3:14pm. Stay tuned!
Wanted: promoters/DJs/bands interested in helping 2720.
Some amazing ideas have come our way from reading responses to yesterday’s post. Specifically, the idea of celebrating its reopening next Friday, 2-7-20. So, is it possible to activate the space on one magical date in less than seven days?
We especially hope to hear from folks who have played or booked shows here in the past and are excited to return! Get in touch with us at [email protected] and let us know what you have in mind!
Thank you to everyone who responded to yesterday’s post and expressed excitement about 2720 reopening! We are so inspired by and grateful for the love and community that exists around 2720. Much respect to Josh, Dan, Abby, Kim, Davide, Brandon,Eric,Kaveh and the many others who created an incredible, one-of-a-kind place for people to come together and have unforgettable experiences around music and art.
When 2720 closed 18 months ago, it created a huge void not only in the St. Louis scene but on Cherokee St. in particular. Not only was 2720’s absence an energetic loss for the street, but having such a large space dark and shuttered created safety concerns as well. After a search for new operators hit a dead end, the building’s owner, WJL Properties, which also operates the nearby Empire Hall venue, is now operating the space with the assistance of Liz Wolfson. Liz has been active in Cherokee St.’s art scene since 2004 and currently serves as co-director of Flood Plain, a non-profit gallery on Cherokee she helped open in 2017.
Over the past several months substantial repairs and updates to 2720’s mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and other systems have been made and the building is now ready to reopen to the public. We look forward to doing all we can to build on the spirit of creativity and community generated by 2720’s previous operators and welcoming everyone back soon! Stay tuned!
