As Chief Jenkins travels through today’s parade, you’ll notice a very special passenger riding alongside her, Page County Emergency Communications Center ‘s very own, Communications Officer Eugene Shifflett.

Earlier this year, during National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, we proudly “adopted” Eugene after Page County ECC Director Rhinehart offered the community the chance to adopt from her center to shower them with appreciation and support. Since then, we’ve been honored to call him part of our Stanley Police Department family.

For more than two decades, Eugene has faithfully served our community as a Communications Officer or Dispatcher. He represents the Thin Gold Line, the calm voice on the other end of the phone during your scariest moments, your most uncertain times, and our community’s emergencies. While you may not always see him, he works tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure help gets where it needs to go and that our first responders make it home safely.

Today, we want to introduce our hometown and our visitors to one of the incredible people who serves our community every day.

As Eugene passes by, give him a wave. Offer a smile. Shout a few kind words.

Most of all, show him the old-school heart that makes Stanley Homecoming so special. Flood these comments with pictures of the parade so Eugene can capture as many memories of the day as he can!
