"Nobody cares about the driver." It sounds harsh, but the reality of the gig economy is that convenience always comes first. Customers want their order fast, companies want their cut, and the person making it happen is just a name on a screen. ππ¦ Letβs talk about the disconnect in delivery culture. π

Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades... apparently not in grocery delivery. πΆββοΈπ¦
Iβm genuinely trying to understand the thought process here. The delivery instructions said "leave at the door." Not "leave somewhere in the general vicinity." Not "leave at the bottom of the steps." At the door.
Instead, I came home to find the entire order sitting down on the steps like it was some kind of pickup station. Cases of water. Groceries. Household supplies. Everything stacked and spread out before the actual entrance. Which means I still had to carry it all the rest of the way myself.
And that's the part I don't get. If the order can make it to the property, why stop short of the final destination? Especially when the whole reason many people use delivery is because they're paying for the convenience of having things brought to their door.
Maybe there was a reason. Maybe the driver was in a hurry. Maybe there was something I don't know about. But when the instructions say "leave at door," most people probably expect to open the door and see their order right there. Not halfway through the journey.
So I'm curious... If your delivery was left at the bottom of the steps instead of at the actual door, would it bother you? Or would you consider that close enough? π Let me know.
