Two nights ago we posted about the media’s apparent agenda in vilifying an entire neighborhood, Howard Beach, by exploiting a racial incident that happened there which sadly led to an unintended fatality.
This incident, which happened 20 years later (and 20 years ago-2006) saw a reversal in the perpetrators whereby two young Italian teens were targeted by 30-40 Hispanic and black young men as old as 25. No fatalities occurred but the intent was evident as the words spoken by the violent mob were “kill the white boys.” Luckily the victims survived. We were asked to portray this incident as a balance towards accurate and balanced reporting of historical events. Howard Beach and Bensonhurst, amongst many other Italian neighborhoods, were unduly stigmatized as racist during the 80’s and 90’s as part of a larger political agenda but we shall not digress for the risk of being accused of purporting conspiracy theories. You can easily deduct what is what yourselves. We appreciate our audiences and respect all races, ethnicities, and creeds. We truly hope we can evolve into a much more cohesive society.
