A Look Back at 2025: Building the Platforms That Power the Future of Immunosurveillance
2025 marked a pivotal year for Athari Bio, one defined by the transition from concept to ex*****on.
Over the past year, we advanced biological technologies into infrastructure-grade platforms designed for speed, adaptability, and real-world deployment. From dual-reporter neutralization and cytotoxicity systems to field-deployable vaccine architectures, our focus has been on building tools that perform under operational conditions, not just controlled laboratory environments.
Equally important, we treated workforce development as core infrastructure, embedding trainees directly into active R&D efforts and coupling scientific ex*****on with hands-on learning to strengthen long-term capability and resilience.
Our January blog reflects on the scientific progress, platform validation, ecosystem engagement, and organizational milestones that shaped this work, and how those efforts position us for the next phase of impact in 2026.

National Blood Donor Month | Advancing the Science Behind Safe, Effective Blood Use
This month, we recognize National Blood Donor Month and the vital role that blood donation plays in modern medicine; from trauma care and surgery to cancer treatment, immunotherapy, and rare disease management.
At Athari BioSciences, our work supports the blood donation ecosystem through science that strengthens how blood and blood-derived products are studied, evaluated, and translated into care.
Our contributions include:
• Developing high-precision assays that evaluate immune activity, viral neutralization, and cytotoxicity, helping ensure blood products and biologics are well characterized before clinical use.
• Supporting transfusion-relevant research in immunology, infectious disease, and therapeutic development.
• Building laboratory platforms that improve how researchers understand immune responses associated with plasma-derived and blood-based therapies.
Blood donation is more than a supply chain, it is a scientific system that depends on trust, rigor, and precision. We are proud to contribute to that system by advancing the tools that make safe and effective therapies possible.
This month, we thank blood donors, clinicians, and researchers whose collective efforts continue to save lives and advance medicine.

Intern Spotlight: Terri Owens
This summer, we're proud to spotlight Terri Owens, Undergraduate Research Intern at Athari BioSciences and a rising leader in biotechnology with a deep commitment to improving public health through science and innovation.
Currently pursuing her B.S. in Biotechnology at the University of Maryland Global Campus (Class of Dec. 2025), Terri holds a 3.85 GPA, Dean’s List honors, and several microcredentials in laboratory safety and aseptic technique. She brings a solid foundation in molecular biology, scientific documentation, and project coordination—skills that she has actively applied and expanded during her internship with us.
At Athari Bio, Terri has:
- Supported the development of a pseudotyped RNA viral vector for high-throughput drug screening
- Collaborated on assay development and project planning in a BSL-2 CLIA-certified environment
- Explored collaboration and funding opportunities to support Athari’s translational research pipeline
- Contributed weekly presentations on data findings, literature review insights, and validation progress
In her own words:
"What has truly made this experience transformative is the supportive and empowering culture at Athari Bio. The inspiring leadership here not only challenges me to grow but also uplifts me in ways that remind me my future is bright. I've been encouraged to grow not only as a scientist but as a visionary."
Terri is also a proud student member of Women In Bio and the recipient of the 2025 MYStory Scholarship, awarded for academic achievement and exceptional promise in the life sciences. Her journey has been further inspired by the mentorship of Athari Bio’s own Susan Mitchell, who continues to champion Terri’s path toward becoming a biotech project manager.
Join us in celebrating Terri and the incredible contributions she’s made to Athari Bio and beyond!
