Redefined Horizons

This is Matthew Schulte, one of the young field surveyors at RH. This week I was able to work as Matthew's rodman on a small monument preservation survey. I did the grunt work - he was the brains.

Just a couple of years ago, Matthey was working in a warehouse and didn't know anything about land surveying. Now, he orders me around on the job site. We are very proud of the progress Matthew and our other young surveyors are making.

Not all great hires have a 4 year degree from a university. There is great work ethic and talent in other places if you look hard enough.

The ladies of RH do a fantastic job!

More than 2/3 of our hourly team members are women - a ratio I've never seen in another surveying company during my 21 year career. This isn't because Brian Leiser and I set out to hit that particular ratio, but because we focus on hiring great team members - regardless of their skin color, gender, or education level.

These ladies are hard-working, meticulous, kind, and pay attention to detail. They are the secret to our success as a small business!

Other surveying companies could benefit by considering women for field and office positions.

(I'm not sure about that lady in the top of the middle row - she might be a little bit crazy. :P )
