Today, the Strafford Fire Protection District honors the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice allows our community—and every community—to live in freedom and safety.

As we gather with family and friends, we pause to remember the heroes who never made it home. We carry their legacy forward with gratitude, unity, and a commitment to serving others.

On behalf of our entire fire department, I want to extend a sincere thank‑you to Bang Energy for supplying our crews with drinks. Our job demands long hours, tough conditions, and constant readiness — and having partners in the community who step up to support us makes a real difference. Your generosity helps keep our firefighters hydrated, energized, and ready to respond when our neighbors need us most. We appreciate your commitment to our mission and to the safety of this community. Thank you for standing with us.”

For thirty years, from 1996 to 2026, Mark Poynor stood as a steady, committed, and deeply trusted member of the Strafford Fire Protection District Board. His service wasn’t just measured in years — it was measured in the countless decisions, long nights, difficult conversations, and unwavering dedication that helped shape the district into what it is today.

Mark brought integrity, humility, and a genuine love for this community to every meeting and every challenge. He believed in doing what was right, even when it wasn’t easy, and he never lost sight of the people behind the policies — the firefighters, the families, and the neighbors who rely on this district every day.

His leadership strengthened the district.
His character elevated it.
And his legacy will continue to guide it.

As we say goodbye to Mark in his role as a board member, we do so with deep gratitude and respect. His impact will be felt for years to come, and his commitment to service will remain an example for all who follow.

Thank you, Mark, for giving so much of yourself to Strafford. You will always be a part of this district’s story.

Dear Citizens

On the behalf of the entire Fire Department, I want to extend our deepest gratitude to the citizens who voted YES on the bond extension proposal. Your support is more than a line on a ballot, it's a commitment to safety, readiness, and the future of our community. Your vote tells us something powerful: You believe in the mission of our fire department. You believe in the men and women who answer the call at all hours, and you believe that preparedness is not optional.... It's essential. We don't take that trust lightly, we will continue to be transparent, responsible stewards of the funds you've approved. This bond extension is not just a financial measure; it's a shared commitment to each other. We are proud, grateful, and ready to continue serving you with the highest level of dedication.

Thank you for your trust. Thank you for your support. Most importantly, thank you for standing with your Strafford Fire Protection District!!!!!
