OVERDOSE NUMBERS SOAR IN MARTIN COUNTY, NUMBER OF OD DEATHS RISE
As our nation works through many unprecedented issues, our local community is facing a crisis that is costing lives almost weekly. The number of overdoses and overdose deaths has jumped considerably over the past year and we don't want to lose sight of this on-going crisis.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office is working to address this heartbreaking problem and will continue to communicate with the public on what's occurring and how we hope to address it. So far this year, we have responded to 131 overdoses, of which 23-were fatal. Three deaths occurred over the weekend. The youngest overdose victim this year was only 14-years old. The eldest victim was 75. Though you may never know their names or see their faces, they are members of our community and we hope we can work together to reduce the number of overdoses-- and overdose deaths in our area.
