As we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy this Fourth of July, we’re reminded that one of the greatest privileges we have is the opportunity to serve others.

Freedom isn’t just something we celebrate—it’s something we can use to make a difference.

At Our Community Table, we’re grateful for every volunteer, donor, partner, and supporter who chooses to turn compassion into action. Because of you, hope is served alongside every meal.

For a long time, I never enjoyed reading the Psalms. Now I find comfort in turning to some of my favorite verses.

God’s Word was written to be studied, understood, and applied, and the book of Psalms lends itself most directly to application. We understand the psalms best when we “stand under” them and allow them to flow over us like a rain shower. We may turn to Psalms looking for something, but sooner or later we will meet Someone. As we read and memorize the psalms, we will gradually discover how much they are already a part of us. They put into words our deepest hurts, longings, thoughts, and prayers. They gently push us toward being what God designed us to be—people loving and living for him.
