WARNING: A dangerous outbreak of Panleukopenia (Panleuk) is affecting cats across Central Florida. This highly contagious and often deadly virus attacks a cat’s immune system and spreads quickly, especially among kittens and unvaccinated cats.

Common symptoms include:

🐾 Diarrhea
🐾 Loss of appetite
🐾 Fever
🐾 Extreme lethargy
🐾 Dehydration

Panleuk can survive in the environment for months and spreads through contact with infected cats, surfaces, bedding, food bowls, and even shoes or clothing.

The best protection is VACCINATION. Vaccinating your cats — even indoor cats — can save their lives and help stop the spread of this devastating disease. If your cat is not up to date, contact your veterinarian or reach out to SPCA Florida Veterinary Clinic as soon as possible.

Smokey Bear, the 8 week old Wire Fox Terrier, came in today to meet Dr. Haley and Nick for the very first time. We are excited to watch this little teddy bear grow!

Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30, and while we’re busy preparing our homes, it’s important not to forget our furry family members!

✅ Make sure your pet’s ID tags and microchip information are up to date
✅ Have at least 7 days of food, water, and medications ready
✅ Keep vaccination records in a waterproof container or saved digitally
✅ Pack a pet emergency kit with leashes, carriers, bowls, litter, comfort items, and recent photos
✅ Know which hotels, shelters, or evacuation locations accept pets before a storm is approaching
✅ Never leave pets behind during an evacuation

This week we’re featuring the one and only Pinkie (also known as Pinkie Pie or simply Pink)! 💖

Pinkie recently celebrated her 1st birthday and has already perfected the art of being a professional diva. 👑 Her favorite hobbies include strategically pushing items off counters, hiding every toy she owns under the furniture, and convincing her mom that she absolutely needs more toys… despite already having plenty. (Honestly, who could say no to that face? 😹)

When she’s not redecorating the house one toy at a time, Pinkie is hard at work making biscuits, demanding attention, and ensuring she remains the center of the universe—which, according to Pinkie, is exactly how things should be. 🐾💕

Pinkie belongs to Nyah, one of Claunch’s newest veterinary technicians, and we’re so happy to have both of them as part of our family!
