We had a great training session for our 1st Womens Open Mat 🥋💃 & had to go to work before we got a picture, but there were 6 of us! .montes & .kasey. ⁣

As a team of women, we came together to decide what we NEEDed to help our passion of BJJ improve. Our focus for open mat is to be time to DRILL, get LOTS of REPS in. Most people if given the choice to roll or drill, would rather roll because that's the fun part. However, we want to emulate iron sharpening iron, get the reps in, and be willing to criticize & analyze movement until we are technically sound. Together, we decided that we want to build confidence by creating movement patterns of solid technique. Knowing that technique is built in the reps after reps of intentional drilling. 🤙⁣

🙏Thank you ladies for being committed to our community where we don't settle for mediocry or being pushed to the sidelines. Each of us are high-value, high-integrity women that full time students, career based, moms, sisters...but our labels don't stop there. We are proud MARTIAL ARTISTS. We push each other to exceed our potential both ON & OFF the mats. For one sword doesn't sharpen because in comparison, the other blade simply became dull. No, iron sharpens iron.

Let’s see what we can turn those stressful holiday dinners from stress into something that cultivates family culture & pride...What will that then do to our culture as a country & as humanity? ⁣

We must shift how this country operates on the most intimate level, our homes & our closest circles of friends, before we can even begin to change our governing institutions. ⁣

“Hear no evil, see no evil, say no evil”, is not to say that we are to become complacent & bystanders. The intent is that we must not only give but TEACH how to love, come to peace, & cultivate a community inclusive of unique identities that make us as a COLLECTIVE HUMANITY. ⁣

Don’t just be the change that you only wish, but be the change that you are currently demanding of society. ⁣
⁣
Instead of “hear no evil, see no evil, say no evil”...⁣
⁣
May we make peace with the past & with those that differ from us. May we make peace by learning not erasing. ⁣
⁣
May we ‘Shake/hang loose’ (include the unique identities that gives the US such a rich blending of humanity) May we lift each other up so that everyone can contribute to society in ways that are unique to their passions & abilities. ⁣

May we give more love than deserved. Because remember ... The Godhead gave more love than what we deserved & claimed us all as His! Don’t just “kill them with kindness”, Drench them with the same love that’s been given unto you when you least deserved it. ⁣

Peace.Shaka.Love=OHANA = so that we may have a culture that upholds the sense of OHANA. We are all humanity. May we shine brightly individually so that we may shine brighter as a COLLECTIVE HUMANITY. ⁣
