I’ve been thinking a lot about competition lately.

For me, my only real competition is myself.

Who I was yesterday.
Who I was a month ago.
Who I was a year ago.

That’s the person I’m trying to outgrow.

I know there are a lot of bakers who see everyone in the same space as competition, and honestly, I think that can become a really sad mindset. Because when you start looking at everyone around you as a threat, it’s easy for negative thoughts to creep in. It’s easy to compare. It’s easy to resent. It’s easy to start tearing down instead of building up.

And that’s just not how I want to operate.

I truly believe we rise by lifting others. I want to see other bakers succeed. If you grow faster than me, sell more than me, create something amazing, or hit a milestone before I do, I can genuinely celebrate that.
Your success does not take away from mine.

Now, can seeing someone else succeed push you to work harder? Absolutely. Inspiration can be powerful. But being cruel to someone simply because they’re in the same space, making similar things, or offering similar products?

That’s not competition.
That’s insecurity.

There is room for all of us to grow, learn, create, and succeed. And I will always choose to compete with the version of me I used to be instead of becoming bitter toward someone else for chasing their own dream.

Because mean girl energy has no place in my kitchen.
