On Sunday, March 5th at 4pm Christ Church Summit and Fountain Baptist Church are holding a joint concert “Still I Rise” celebrating Black History Month. The event will be held at Christ Church Summit at 561 Springfield Avenue.
There is a suggested donation of $20, and folks can pay in advance using the QR scan square or this link (https://ccsnj.breezechms.com/give/online to make payment. The event will celebrate the joy of black music, and the presenters hope the community will join together in the celebration. No pre-registration is required.

The Long Shadow follows CNN Senior Producer, TED contributor, and Emmy-Award winning Director Frances Causey as she traces her family’s legacy of white privilege, placing it in the context of the history of anti-black racism in the United States that continues to impact our society today.
This 90-minute film can be streamed anytime between Sunday, January 30 and Sunday, February 6 at your convenience. On Thursday, February 3rd, at 7:30pm there will be an online discussion with the writer/director Frances Causey, and you are encouraged to join in the dialogue with your questions and thoughts on the messages of the film. Our Story
Shaping Summit Together is a 501c(3) organization. Our mission is to ensure that Summit reaches its full potential as a mature, diverse, suburban community and to facilitate efforts so that Summit continues to be a community that works together to shape its future. We operate as an “alliance” with community stakeholders; and we collaborate to organize community-wide programs pertaining to character, values and service and prevention of substance abuse. Our current organization emanated from a committee of the Mayor’s Forum on Diversity entitled “Valuing Diversity”. In 1995 it became known as “Summit 2005” with an aspirational timeline to reach the fulfillment of its mission with a 10-year strategic plan. Then, in 2005, it was determined that this organization’s “reason for being” was still relevant and important. The name was changed to “Shaping Summit Together” to reflect the time-honored importance of being a collaborative community working together to shape its future.
