Our Story

In April of 2012 Rob Rottman started GenQuip. He was on a mission to provide exceptional customer service and high quality reliable products. He felt that too many companies put their bottom lines before their customers and were lacking speciality services.

GenQuip is a boutique style company that specializes in Kohler Power Systems. We are the generator equipment specialists. We believe that our entire staff must be properly trained in our field. Starting with your first point of contact you are dealing with a trained specialist that understands your needs. We are a Kohler Platinum Dealer proudly serving all of Connecticut and Lower New York. We are experts in our field offering comprehensive services. We are factory certified on Residential, Light Commercial and Industrial Power Systems. Whether you have a small 12KW gaseous fueled residential system or complex 2,000KW diesel fueled industrial system we’ve got you covered. We provide Sales, Installation, Scheduled Service, Testing and Advanced Troubleshooting. We also have a special service partnership program where we provide support to electricians and other generator companies. We are the go to company for advanced troubleshooting and complex repairs. We stand out amongst any other dealer in our region for the services we offer, most importantly the after sale service and support. We treat all of our customers big or small as if they are our only customer and more importantly we understand each of our customers individual needs. It’s important for us to know that our customers feel they are in good hands and have the support of us to make informed decisions. Most of our competitors sell and install the equipment but they often lack the training and skills to support the product after the sale. They tend to rely heavily on phone support from a remote technical team. They also tend not to be parts stocking dealers. Our background is in highly technical diagnostics and we stock more parts than any other dealer in our region. What this ultimately comes down to is your equipment is properly diagnosed and is typically repaired on our first trip out. Our customers have come to rely on us and love our quick response to their needs.

A little more about the owner...

Rob Rottman entered the power generation field with a background in Heavy Equipment and Diesel Engine repair. For twelve years he worked at the distributor level for various manufacturers including Kohler, where he was a lead technician and handled many critical infrastructure customers such as data centers, health care facilities and municipalities as well as high end residential customers.
