Here is my latest pen, made from one of the most challenging materials I've ever worked with.
Mammoth tooth!

Yes, it's the real deal, as it smelled worse than any other bone I've ever worked with, and had to be turned mostly with an angle grinder. It has spectacular natural colors, with small crystal-like veins running through it that shimmer in the light.
It's mounted on a rollerball kit, with chrome and gold accents

Made this pair of ring dishes a few weeks ago, and just got around to editing the photos. They are made of Redwood Burl (left), and Curly Koa (right), and both have turquoise inlays and ebony finials. The redwood is old growth, and difficult to get ahold of.
They were purchased through my Etsy, and shipped to California. You can find my shop via the link on my page, or searching JakesMakesCo.
I plan on making more of these in the future, including some with a Mother of Pearl inlay.
