How and why did I start working as a financial planner?

I finished my bachelor’s degree in finance in 2009. Then, I began my career as a financial planner in 2010. What got me interested in this career was how I enjoyed helping a good friend setting up his Roth IRA.

After a few years trying to reach out and serve everyone, I realized that I had to focus on specific types of clients. I needed something to differentiate myself from others. That was when I chose to focus on working with school teachers and professionals.

This career is very rewarding. It is not only in the sense of financial reward, but I truly enjoy the good feeling that I get whenever I help a client. I remember seeing a client smiling after we created a plan for him to get out of debt. I also received a hug from another client, who realized that she could retire in a few years. Financial planning is an awesome career.
