First Church

Today, we conclude reading about Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This last day of June is for review of the 50 chapters of Genesis, or maybe to catch up on your reading if you’ve missed some days. We read how Jacob’s family moved to Egypt during a famine in Canaan. There, they multiply and become a great nation of Israel (Jacob’s new name given to him by God). In the next 400 years, they became slaves of the Egyptians, when God calls Moses to lead His people out of bo***ge (the Exodus). Starting tomorrow, we will begin to read about this historic event that is so important and points us to so much truth in the remainder of the Bible.
