I am beyond excited to announce that my witchy 90s grief horror short “Homecoming” dropped on Thirteen today! This one is very special to me, and I’m grateful that it found its home with the passionate creative team at Thirteen. Huge thanks to Brooke, Ian, Caleb, and Bridgett for the love and care they gave to this little piece of my heart.

There is something bittersweet about New Year’s time — the simultaneous endings and beginnings that happen on opposite sides of midnight.
This year, I have…
✨ run in three 5k races
✨ published a poetry chapbook
✨ participated in five local author events
✨ made the jump to teach at a new school
✨ read 15 books (& counting!)
✨ challenged myself
✨ found balance
There were stumbled and roadblocks along the way, but everywhere I have felt signs that I am where I’m meant to be. So long, 2025. And hello, 2026.

While I did not reach every goal I had set at the beginning of 2025, I did…
✨ run three 5K races;
✨ participate in five local author events with the Florida Chapter of the Horror Writers Association;
✨ submit stories 25 times, collect 22 rejections, land one acceptance, and self-publish a poetry chapbook;
✨ travel once internationally to Mexico and once domestically to visit friends back home in New York;
✨ broke my concert dry spell and got to see Metallica (twice), plus Ice Nine Kills, Pantera, & Limp Bizkit; Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan, & We the Kings; Kesha; Blink-182 & Alkaline Trio; Evanescence & My Chemical Romance;
✨ read 13 books, including a full re-read of the entire Hunger Games series;
✨ finish my second year of teaching, start my third year, and change to a new position in a new grade level at a new school;
✨ explore new hobbies and revisit old hobbies including line dancing, watercolors, and embroidery;
✨ fall in love;
✨ foster friendships;
✨ grow as a person.
So, y’know, while I didn’t check off everything on my list, I am ending this year feeling happy about the way these last twelve months have gone and proud of everything that I have been able to accomplish and the ways in which I’ve learned and the strides I’ve taken personally, professionally, and creatively.
It’s that time of year when I pull back from social media to focus on enjoying much-needed time with family and friends. Thanks for the memories, 2025 — and I’ll see you all in 2026.

2025 has been a year of…
saying yes more; challenging fear and anxiety; embracing new experiences; building and strengthening friendships and relationships; setting boundaries; reflecting; chasing dreams; working toward goals; reframing; learning; changing; growing; exploring; connecting (& reconnecting); creating —
and I’m grateful for every last moment.
