This is one of my favorite pendulum board designs.

I used to make this design in raw wood form only because, in most things (designs, creations, whatever, really), I tend to be drawn to the classic styles. There's something so energetically pleasing about holding wood in your hands, smelling the slight smokey essence left behind from the etching...

But then...

A few years ago, I had a request from someone asking if I could make the board in black. I explained I couldn't do pure black wood, but I could use a black MDF (medium-density fiberboard, which is a breakdown of wood into fine fiber and compressed) and engrave the symbols and images into that, and they said, "Well, let's try it!" The outcome? A dramatic board that brought it's own special kind of energy into play.
