🇮🇹🫒 Day 6 – Olive Groves, the Mediterranean, and France! 🇫🇷🌊
Today was a travel day as we made our way from Italy to our final destination in France, but not before making a few memorable stops along the way!
We started the morning by visiting the Ferrari family olive grove, where we learned about their century long tradition of olive oil production. 🫒🌿 The family has been producing olive oil for over 100 years and cares for nearly 20,000 olive trees, primarily growing the Taggiasca variety, which is well known throughout the Liguria region. One interesting fact we learned is that all olives eventually become black, green olives are simply harvested before they fully mature! We also learned about the high standards required to produce extra virgin olive oil, including maintaining a very low acidity level. During our visit, we had the opportunity to try out several of the harvesting and pruning tools used to care for the olive trees and produce high quality olive oil.
Before continuing our journey, we made a stop along the beautiful coast of Liguria, where we got to dip our toes into the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea. 🌊☀️ It was the perfect opportunity to enjoy the scenery, take pictures, and experience another incredible part of Italy.
After a day of traveling, we crossed the border into France and arrived in the beautiful city of Nice, where we'll spend the remainder of our trip. 🇫🇷 We wrapped up the day by enjoying a delicious group dinner and are excited to explore a new country tomorrow!
Another day full of new experiences, beautiful scenery, and unforgettable memories! 💙💛
