After a little over a year of truly digging deep and focusing on my own personal acne journey, I’m confidently ready to share the results>>>
As many of you know, I became an esthetician for a multitude of reasons; one being my own acne struggles. I remember my acne starting around 6th/7th grade. Every year it would continue to get worse and worse. Doctor visit after doctor visit we were trying to find a solution while also trying new skincare every 6 months, but nothing seemed to work. I would start a new antibiotic, my skin would clear up for a few months, and then RIGHT back to where we began. Sound familiar? Because I get it! Sophomore year of high school my dermatologist decided to put me on Accutane. If you are someone who struggles with acne, you’ve more than likely heard of it 🫠. 6 months of BRUTAL side effects but my skin was finally clear… or so I thought.
After a year of clear skin, it ALL came right back my senior year of high school. I had never felt more disappointed to know I went through the struggles of Accutane for it to only be a band-aid fix. I wanted to give up and just accept the fact that I would struggle with grade 4 acne forever. While I was in Esthetics school last year (Jan-Aug) my skin was the worst it had EVER been. I hated the fact that I was becoming an esthetician while not having clear skin. I was constantly telling myself “Who would trust me with their skin if mine looks like this?” But I knew there was a solution and I needed to continue my education to find the root cause of my acne! Once I graduated in August of 2023, I decided to take a whole new approach to clearing my skin. Healing my body from the inside out.
Over the past year, I have focused on healing my gut, balancing my hormones, supplementing my body with what it NEEDS, eating healthier, staying active, and have found the perfect skincare routine for me and my skin’s needs. Through my education and experience this past year of healing my skin, the two important things I have learned (and every single one of my clients has heard me say this) is that OUR SKIN REFLECTS WHAT IS GOING ON INSIDE OF OUR BODIES (I think it’s actually pretty fascinating 🙈)& ACNE IS MAINTAINED, NOT CURED!
Anyway…. I wanted to post this to show you that you are not alone! Acne affects about 80% of Americans at some point in their life. With a customized skincare routine, monthly facials, and changes to your every day lifestyle, you too can learn to maintain your acne without putting a bandaid over it! Let me be your shoulder to lean on. I will walk you through every process of what it takes to have clear skin. Do I still break out? Yes. Do I still have left over acne marks? Yes. Will my skin ever be 100% clear? No. And that’s okay!
I want all of my clients to always feel welcome when they step into my treatment room, and that is why I shared my acne journey with you. Know that I get it! I know how hard it is to feel like your skin will never be clear, but with a wholeeee lot of patience and trust, I will help you gain your confidence back again 🫶🏽
