New additions to the ranch. Meet Star and Midnight two adopted Oak Creek wild horses. The other horses and cattle should become friends.

Calves are being born at Elkhorn Ranch. The cows are being protective and the calves are good at hiding in the brush. Hard to even take pictures of them right now.

Fruit is growing at Elkhorn Ranch. Apriums, plums, peaches, cherries, and nectarines should be available in June to July time frame. Apples, grapes, and pears, should be ready this fall. Right now foraging for miners lettuce, stinging nettle, and wild onions are available. Veggies should be ready in late summer through winter. Elderberry will be a foraging option later in the year. Apriums are a cross between an apricot and a plum. One of my favorite fruits. Oh and I almost forgot figs will be ready soon as well. Swing by the ranch if you'd like to forage or harvest.

Video of bull enjoying the new scratching rock. It was a heavy sucker pulled out of the middle of the round pen just poking up enough to be a hazard.

Catchment pond creation, round pen rock removal, and scratching rock placement all in a days work at Elkhorn Ranch.

Moved the cattle down to the lower pasture to calf. We also have a new addition to the Ranch. Amigo is happy to pursue and herd cows.

Bought two new Red Angus bulls from the 30th annual Cattlemen's Select Bull Sale yesterday. These guys have excellent genetics including good marbling and ribeye portion size. One is from Oregon and the other is from Montana. The auction was at the Visalia Livestock Market.
