Just keep it simple…

It’s been a rough winter. Lost our cat, awful snowfall totals, terrible mountain conditions, hernia surgery, and now a shoulder injury— I’ve been over this winter since before it began.

As a result of *gestures vaguely* all that, I chose to put the photography business in the back seat in order to focus on keeping my physical and mental health in order. I’m definitely still working on that, but as another winter season comes to an end it’s time to get back on the saddle and get working on all my new ideas for this summer.

Similar to getting back into the gym after a long hiatus, it can be hard to get the artistic train rolling again with such a massive backlog of cool shots from the past few years. I decided to get out and shoot something simple as we started getting snow for the first time in over a month. This poor little pasque flower getting coated in snow after thinking it was safe to bloom during this early spring seemed like a great metaphor for how I feel right now…

Can I bloom yet?

Thought I’d share a lil family adventure portrait for this Friday.

Last weekends my parents and their dog Auggie came out to visit us for their first time during the heart of the summer. Eric and I had a blast taking them around soaking in the views on all the fun summer adventures they’ve never got to do.

Of course I had to try my hand at a little family portrait from one of my favorite views on the ski mountain during the last night of their visit. A night under the stars at the yurt, a beautiful sunset hike with the parents, and some delicious backcountry cooking from my amazing husband .thor.en
