📢 Department Colloquium This Week!

We’re excited to feature a colloquium talk by our graduate student Wael El Khateeb (University of Toledo), who will be graduating this summer!

🎓 Title: Global Hopf bifurcation and connected components in a delayed predator-prey model

🧠 Abstract:
The talk explores the dynamics of a delayed predator-prey system with a Holling type II functional response, focusing on how time delay and carrying capacity interact. Using local and global Hopf bifurcation theory, the work reveals sequences of bifurcations and nested connected components of global Hopf branches. A highlight is showing that the classical limit cycle of the non-delayed system lies within a connected component of the global Hopf bifurcation in Fuller’s space. These results also show how delays can induce oscillatory coexistence at lower carrying capacities, offering surprising biological insights.
