Some floors carry more than just wood.

This one was installed by the homeowner's relative — by hand, with care, the way things used to be done. When the time came to expand the space, there was no way they were going to cover it up or start over. That floor meant something.

So they called us.

The original flooring was Red Oak Two Common, flat sawn for that classic cathedral grain, milled to 2¼" & 3¼"— a profile you simply cannot walk into a big-box store and find. It was a product of its era, and that's exactly what made it worth preserving.

Before we touched a single new board, our team studied the existing floor: the species, the grade, the cut, Only then did we head to the mill.

Every new plank was custom produced by Floorcraft Designs to mirror the original — not approximately, but exactly. Same species. Same grade. Same profile. Laid in and ready for the next steps. The boards will have walnut plugs installed and the bevel will be stained with a dark color to mimic the existing and then the entire floor will sanded and finished with a new stain color.

The relative who built that floor would recognize it today. That's the point.

This is why custom milling exists — not just to match a floor, but to honor the person who laid it.
