75 years ago, a young East Texas soldier left home to serve his country… never knowing he wouldn’t return.

Army Corporal Orestus Marion Stewart of Jasper County was just 20 years old when he was killed during fierce fighting in the Korean War in 1950 while helping defend South Korea from advancing enemy forces.
For decades, his family had no answers. His remains were eventually recovered, but he rested as an unknown soldier for more than 75 years.

Until now.
Thanks to modern forensic science and the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, Corporal Stewart has finally been identified and has now returned home to Texas with full military honors.
After more than seven decades… this East Texas hero is finally home.
