Lightcap for Kansas

With the weather coming in, consider giving a four-hour shift (or two) to one of the warming centers, in Topeka or Lawrence! The need is great for our unsheltered neighbors.

Supplies are also needed, so consider picking up a few extras while you’re out doing your own shopping.

One last parade for the year, this time it was the Miracle on Kansas Avenue Holiday Parade with the Shawnee County Democrats! We were small but mighty!

As we reflect on this campaign journey, my heart is filled with gratitude for the incredible community that rallied together for House District 52. Whether you donated your time, resources, or energy, your unwavering support has meant the world to me and our team.

To every donor, friend, family member, volunteer, and P*P: thank you. Each phone call you made, door you knocked on, conversation you had, and dollar you contributed brought us closer to the shared vision we have for our community—a Kansas that values fairness, opportunity, and the voices of all its residents.

Campaigns are about more than candidates; they’re about the people who believe in creating change together. Your passion and dedication reminded me every day why this work matters and how fortunate I am to have your support.

While the results may not have been what we hoped for, the impact of this campaign extends far beyond election day. Together, we’ve raised important issues, engaged new voters, and strengthened the foundation for future progress in our district.

I am deeply grateful for every one of you who stood with me, and I remain committed to advocating for the values we championed during this race. Thank you for being part of this journey.

As he quotes VP Harris, “…sometimes the fight takes a while. That doesn’t mean we won’t win. The important thing is don’t ever give up. Don’t ever give up.”

Signs: today’s the last day for sign pick up! We picked up a lot of signs yesterday, largely from public rights of way. We also went through a few neighborhoods, but I know we missed some!

We’ll make one more pass today, but if we missed you or you already pulled your sign and put it in your garage, please contact me. Happy to take as many back as we can get.

Signs will be picked up today and tomorrow. You can leave them in your yard or put by your door and we will come get them. If you’d rather drop them by my house or the Shawnee County Democratic office, that’s fine too. DM me if you need addresses.

Although not the results we were working and hoping for, they are clear. I congratulate Rep. Borjon on his win. I earnestly hope he goes forward and works to uphold the real Kansas values of the same people I met on the doors in District 52.

I have so many people to thank and will do so personally to as many as I can in the days ahead. I still believe people were the fuel to this campaign and am so grateful for the support of every single person who invested their time, talent, and treasure in this campaign.

I’m not going anywhere; I’ll still be working in our community in all the ways. I still believe every voice matters and while it feels like a defeat now, the only true loss is if we shrink back and do nothing.

Onward we go, together. 💜

Thank you to our wonderful Shawnee County Election Office Staff for all that you’re doing today (and before and after)! I am usually serving as an election worker at a polling place on days like today so I know firsthand all they do. Say thank you to your poll worker! They are doing it because they care deeply.
