Character alone won’t get you a spot if you can’t hit a beach ball or if your best day on the mound is 79 mph, but you get the point.
I’ve seen big prospects, future superstars, throw away opportunity after opportunity because everywhere they went they found someone to disagree with and something to complain about.
You should want to play the sport because you love it, but at some point you must also understand that it’s business. And like in any business the boss wants the good people, the disciplined ones, the accountable ones, the reliable ones.
Being good at the job will open the doors,
Having a strong character will keep you in.

Drills like this make it easier because athletes are able to get in specific advantageous positions without needing to be over cued.
Just jump completely laterally and redirect explosively at contact with the ground.
Alternate sides for 2-3 reps each side.
Here’s how it works
You can run away and avoid the things that make you uncomfortable and challenge you your entire life or…
You can make a conscious decision to face them, overcome them, and reap the rewards on the other side.

JUMP BACK STARTS
I love this simple easy way to teach acceleration mechanics and posture without even cueing athletes too much and confusing them.
Just leave your chest over the front cone and let the body solve the task at hand by getting into the correct position without forcing any mechanical changes.

Anything and anyone can make you tired, or make you feel like you “worked”
But few actually make you better.
Training can be very paradoxical. Sometimes less is more, and sometimes getting tired, sore, or fatigue are not signs that you are actually improving.
Structured, periodized, intentional, monitored training is what gives athletes the opportunity to develop to their fullest potential and raise their ceiling.
It doesn’t matter who it is, structured training 10/10 times beats YouTube fitness content.
