Milka was born with fibular hemimelia, a rare condition that meant she was missing the fibula in her left leg and had only four fingers on each hand. At age 3, her left leg was amputated, and she has always lived with limited mobility in some of her fingers. Despite these challenges, Milka lives an incredibly active life. She plays volleyball and practices boxing, and she uses two custom prosthetic legs provided by the Pediatric Orthotic and Prosthetic Services department at Shriners Children’s Texas. One is made for daily walking, and the other is built to keep up with her in the sports she loves. “The staff here find ways to motivate the patients,” Milka shared. “There’s a lot of children that feel like they’re not going to be able to do what other kids do, but then Shriners finds a way.” 💪🏐#shrinerschildrens #pediatricorthopedics #pediatriccare #shrinerstexas #fibularhemimelia
