Renew Kansas | 2026 Kansas Legislative Update – Sine Die Adjournment 04/15/2026

The 2026 Kansas legislative session has officially concluded following Veto Session on April 9–10.

Around 1:00 a.m., we were able to successfully advocate for passage of an income tax credit incentive for fuel retailers to offer E15 and higher ethanol blend fuels. A multi-year-effort to craft and shepherd the bill through the legislature, the tax credit is valued at 5 cents for each gallon sold and is capped at $2.5 million for three years. Before being sent to Governor Laura Kelly for consideration, the Senate passed the bill, 36-2, and the House, 76-45.

Renew Kansas | 2026 Kansas Legislative Update – Week 11 (First Adjournment) 04/01/2026

The Kansas Legislature has reached First Adjournment.

Week 11 closed out the regular portion of the 2026 session, with lawmakers finalizing legislation and wrapping up conference committee work. The outcome of those final days will shape the direction of energy and biofuels policy moving forward, while some issues remain open.

Lawmakers will return to Topeka on April 9 for Veto Session to address vetoes and any remaining legislative work.
