Athena may be a purebred Bully, but all she truly wants is to be loved.

She came to Lodi Animal Services as a stray with another dog. Although her previous owner knew where she was, he chose not to reclaim her. After years of being repeatedly bred for profit, Athena was discarded when she was no longer useful. She arrived underweight, frightened, and unfamiliar with the love every dog deserves.

Since joining Better World Rescue, Athena has blossomed. She now enjoys a warm home, good meals, cozy couches, and plenty of affection. She loves cuddling, has the cutest little "motorcycle" bark, and is happiest relaxing beside her favorite people.

Athena prefers women but has learned that patient, kind men can be trusted too. She may be unsure when meeting new people and might growl at first, but with treats and a few minutes of patience, she's usually asking for cuddles.

Athena would thrive as an only dog or with a calm, very submissive male dog introduced slowly. She can be pushy when first meeting other dogs, so proper introductions are important.

She is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, crate trained, knows basic commands, and walks well on a leash. She's still excited on walks—likely because she never got to enjoy them before—but at home she's a laid-back couch potato who simply wants a family to call her own.

Meet Tank, a short, squishy-faced senior bulldog mix with a heart as big as his adorable blocky head. He’s a low-energy sweetheart who loves nothing more than curling up on the couch, taking naps, and soaking up all the affection he can get. Tank adores people—every single one of them—and he does the cutest little tippy tappies when he sees you have treats. He’s also wonderful with kids and would make a loving, gentle companion for a family.

Tank prefers not to share his space with large dogs, though he may do well with small dogs after a slow introduction, and he may also be okay with dog-savvy cats. He rides calmly in the car and is about as easygoing as they come.

He has been let down more times than any dog should endure. Tank was first placed on the euthanasia list at Manteca Shelter, then adopted, then rehomed, and eventually ended up at Stanislaus Shelter, where he again faced euthanasia. He is currently flourishing in a loving foster home.

Through every setback, Tank has remained gentle, loving, and hopeful. He’s ready for a calm, caring home where he can finally enjoy the stability and love he deserves.
